Ich lese Godin schon eine Weile und genieße seine Bücher eigentlich immer. Mir gefällt seine Art des Denkens und Betrachtens - und natürlich auch seine typisch amerikanische Direktheit (e.g. "... doesn't work anymore ..." obwohl etwas immer noch funktioniert, wenn auch immer weniger).So gesehen ist Tribes ein typischer Godin, der den Leser inspiriert, sein kleines Denk-Schema "wie könnte ich das verkaufen" zu verlassen und sich stattdessen zu sagen: "Wofür stehe ich eigentlich? Wie stelle ich mir eine bessere Welt vor und was wäre dabei mein Beitrag" ... um dann loszuziehen und sich auf die Suche nach Mitstreiter zu machen. Es geht nicht um noch ein ultimatives Produkt, sondern darum etwas zu verändern und dabei durchaus ein eigenes Produktangebot zu haben. Leadership, in Godin's Sinne, ist die Fähigkeit, etwas zu verändern und folglich geht es in seinem Buch darum, jeden einzelnen mit seinen Möglichkeiten bekannt zu machen und zu verstehen, dass jeder einzelne prinzipiell alles hat, was es braucht, um etwas zu verändern - auf jeder Ebene der Skalierung. Aber er zeigt auch, dass es eben doch nicht jeder kann - weil die Angst davor, kritisiert zu werden, die wohl meisten Menschen davon abhalten wird, etwas zu unternehmen.Ich hab das Buch sehr genossen - wenn also jemand daran interessiert ist, die eigenen Möglichkeiten auszuloten, dieses Buch böte einen guten Anfang. :-)
Seth Godin's Bücher sind für mich immer lesenswert, aber "Tribes" trifft es auf den Punkt: In unserer modernen Welt wird Führung anders definiert als in den Fabriken der vorherigen Jahrhunderts. Ein "Tribe" ist eine Gruppe, die die gleiche Idee teilt und sich austauscht - nicht mehr, aber auch nicht weniger. Und darin liegt eine neue Aufgabe, ein neuer Weg für diejenigen, die Führung und Verantwortung übernehmen möchten. Es ist weder besonders leicht noch außerordentlich schwer und irgendwelchen hochtrabenden Persönlichkeiten vorbehalten: Godin beweist, dass Führung ganz unterschiedliche Facetten umfaßt und dass jeder, der will und etwas zu sagen hat (im Sinn von Inhalt, nicht im Sinne von Hierarchie), es wesentlich leichter hat, heutzutage seine Zuhörer von etwas zu begeistern, mit ihnen in Kontakt zu treten und sich auszutauschen. Ein "Tribe" wurde geboren!Mein Tipp: Lesen und umsetzen, wenn Sie eine Community führen, eine Webseite aufbauen, einen Strickclub gründen ... oder einfach so! Fünf Sterne jederzeit!

Don't buy it.Dude rambles on in an incoherent way the entire book. The book is full of great quotes, but seems more like notes for a real book.He/his editor didn't take the time to structure his thoughts so the book ends up being really bad. I wouldn't trust someone so sloppy to lead or teach me about anything. He's a great cheerleader though.
Every line Seth Godin writes has always been worth my time to read it. This one, Tribes, catches me in a moment when I tend towards seeking gigantic success mainly for myself. In Tribes, Godin reminds me that change, greatness and movements are about an idea which is way bigger than just being about myself. I have such an idea ("the" idea), I know it's great for the world and I will use this book to stay on track regardless of the resistance I will face along the way. I'll lead a tribe. Even just saying it this way is part of Seth Godin's magic. Leading a tribe? I never thought of it this way before. Godin gives it a name and then guides me in this book to understand what it means. This is one of my favourite books. It is not about money. It is about visions. It helps me to find motivation and energy for the work I do. It helps me to get ideas, to regain the energy I need for what I belive in: that people can make this world better. Step by step, day by day. It helps me to keep on doing the work I love, social, effective and with love for what I do. For everybody who wants to change things and make "more" of life: this is a perfect book for you!
